Phil Beer is the multi-instrumental half of award winning acoustic duo, Show of Hands.

How do you describe a Phil Beer performance?

Fun, eccentric, informative with the constant sounds of jaws hitting the floor. Phil could coax a beautiful tune from a length of clothes-line. Not only that, but his gigs really do have something for everyone; trad tunes mixed with covers of Springsteen, The Hollies, his own compositions and songs from his contemporaries.

Songs and music of memory and significance sung in the subtle and melodic Phil Beer style and interjected with musings and amusings to an almost personal audience. A treat of past and current favourites from one of the most popular musicians on the acoustic circuit.

My Darling Clemmie is the remarkable, moving and highly entertaining story of the woman who married one of the truly great figures of the 20th century: Sir Winston Churchill. “The Guardian Angel of our country’s guardian.” said Lord Halifax.

Clementine Churchill is played by Rohan McCullough, described by The Scotsman as “a fantastically talented and moving actress.” She began her career in the legendary musical Hair and has since worked in theatre, film and television, most notably for Manchester Royal Exchange, the RSC and in films by Derek Jarmen and David Hare.

“Fascinating… highly convincing…

A moving production of a complex marriage told with skillful lucidity”

The Daily Telegraph

“An entertaining and compelling performance…delivered as skillfully as it is written”

Edinburgh Festivals Magazine ****
